Data Elements: 4.11 Domestic Violence

Data Element

The Head of Household will report whether the Head of Household and other adults served are survivors of domestic violence.

Data Element Type

4.11 Domestic Violence is a Common Program Specific Data Element.

Collection Point

4.11 Domestic Violence information is collected at Project Start and is updated, as necessary.

Why It Matters

Ascertaining whether a person is a survivor of or fleeing from domestic violence is necessary to provide the person with the appropriate services to prevent further abuse and to treat the physical and psychological injuries from prior abuse.

Knowing, in aggregate, the size of the population of persons experiencing homelessness who have also experienced domestic violence is critical for determining the resources needed to address the problem.

Data Quality

The Data Quality Performance Scorecard looks for missing information and will flag as an error if information is missing or the response is Data Not Collected. If the answer to Domestic Violence Victim/Survivor is Yes, then it looks for and flags missing information for Fleeing and When.

How to correct: Enter value, if known on Project Start Assessment, Project Exit Assessment, or Interim Assessment.
