Data Entry: When, How and Why Enter Data As (EDA) is Used

Data in AKHMIS is linked to the project it was collected for. The “Enter Data As” mode (“EDA”) creates this link. When the EDA mode is skipped or is used incorrectly, a user may have difficulty accessing data they entered.

Every time you log into AKHMIS, set the EDA prior to searching for a client or entering any data. EDA for the specific provider or project where the client is being served.

How do I use Enter Data As (EDA)?

1.       Login to the Alaska Community Services site.

2.      Before searching for a client or entering client information, click on Enter Data As. This option is located in the top right corner of the screen.

3.       Select the specific project where the client is being served by clicking on the green circle with a plus sign  to the left of the name.

Note:  If a user needs access to an EDA provider that is not listed, their supervisor should contact the AKHMIS Help Desk to request access.

Why is Enter Data As (EDA) Important?

Projects (or “providers”) in AKHMIS are customized. When a user EDAs correctly, they can see the assessments and workflow that are appropriate for that provider. If a user EDAs incorrectly or does not use the EDA mode at all, they may not be able to see data they previously entered or may not find the appropriate places to enter data they collected. If the EDA mode is not used correctly, agency reports will not include all of the data that was entered.

When the EDA mode is not used correctly, AKHMIS visibility and display settings are affected.
